Back to Toddler Curriculum Basic rules in our environment include: caring for each
other, the material and atmosphere of the class. Through various activities
the children develop self-esteem and trust in their own ability to care for
themselves and their environment. Older children are models for the younger
ones. They are given the opportunities to show a younger companion how to do
something that he is not yet capable of doing by himself. There is only one
example of each exercise so the child learns to care for the material,
respect other children at work, and learn to wait for one’s turn. Children
return material to the shelf once they are finished with it so that another
child may use it.
