MBTS Staff 2007-2008

 

Detailed below please find the list of warm, nurturing, passionate professionals who will be working with our students for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

Administration

Ms. Kourtni (Jackson), Ms. Debbie (Thompson), Ms. Jacki (Jacqueline Ebanks) and Ms. Paula (Taylor) are the Administration team at MBTS and ensure the smooth running of the school.

 

Toddler Staff

Ms. Stacey Stadnyk – Stacey, who has completed her Montessori Training from Birth to Three, returns as a Directress in our Toddler Program. Stacey’s passion for her students is unmistakable and her warmth radiates through her ready smiles. Stacey also developed our MBTS Kids CARE (Community Awareness Respecting the Environment) that provides students with the opportunity to volunteer their time to various charitable organizations in our community.

 

Ms. Manuela Burt – Ms. Manuela, a trained Toddler Directress and nurse, who has many years experience with young children, returns from maternity leave to our Toddler Program. Manuela has been a part of our school community for three years and is familiar to our little ones.

 

Ms. Krista Loden – Krista, who is a familiar face to our little ones, has decided to pursue her Montessori training. She will be an Assistant in our Toddler program. Krista clearly has a love for children, and her warm, bubbly, enthusiastic personality is infectious.

 

Casa 1 Staff

Ms Andrea Doran – Ms. Andrea, who has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, her Montessori training for ages 3-6 years as well as a wealth of experience, returns to our Casa Program. Andrea has been a part of our team since September 2002. Her dedication to the students and her contributions to our school community strengthen and enhance our program.

 

Ms Helene Ahlgreen – Ms. Helene, an experienced Directress with a Bachelor of Arts in Music as well as her Montessori training for ages 3-6 years, returns to Casa 1. Helene’s calm manner facilitates the peaceful ambience of the Casa classroom.

 

Ms Wendy Boyd – Ms. Wendy has over 20 years of teaching experience, and continues her dual role as a Casa Assistant and French Teacher. Ms. Wendy has a Bachelor Degree in French and Marketing and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education, with a focus on French. The high quality of her French Program is undeniable, and her good modeling of the French language, was noted in our Inspection Report.

 

Casa 2 Staff

Ms. Andrea Roach – Ms. Andrea, who received a Bachelor of Science degree (with highest distinction) in English with a specialist in Psychology, also possesses her Montessori Training for ages 3-6 years. She has worked with children for many years and has taught in our Toddler, Casa and Elementary Programs. This year she returns to her first love, the Casa Program. Ms. Andrea won the award for the 2006 CNCF Annual Playwright Competition and will also be teaching our Kindergarteners.

 

Ms. Monica Bacon – Ms. Monica, whose warmth is unmistakable, was introduced to Montessori as a parent in our school community. So taken was she with the philosophy that she pursued her training and attained her certification in the Preschool/Kindergarten (ages 3-6) Montessori Teacher Training Program.

 

Lower Elementary Program

Ms. Susanne Curry – Eagerly welcomed by both students and staff, Ms. Susanne spent two weeks with us in May 2007. Having worked in St. Maarten and Toronto, Ms. Susanne possesses her Montessori Diplomas for Casa, Lower & Upper Elementary levels.

 

Mr. Chad Widmer – Mr. Chad has Bachelor degrees both in English Literature and Education. He will be our first male staff member and we look forward to having him as a member of our teaching team.

 

Ms. Amanda Gareau – Ms. Mandy has a Bachelor Honors degree in French Language and Literature as well as a background working with children who have special needs. Well loved by our students, Ms. Mandy, who is currently working toward her Montessori Diploma will be assisting in the Lower Elementary Program, as well as working with children with learning exceptionalities.

 

Upper Elementary Program

 

Ms. Victoria Wilkinson – Fondly referred to as Ms. ‘V’, we look forward to her continued enthusiasm in the 2007-2008 school year. An experienced teacher with a Bachelor Honors degree in Biological Sciences as well as her Elementary Montessori Diploma (Ages 6-12), she also has an avid interest in Horticulture. The upcoming school year promises more delighted squeals as students experience the joy of learning under her capable tutelage.

 

Ms. Sarah Genereux – Ms. Sarah signed up to do her practice teaching at Montessori By The Sea in June 2006 and never left. Our students loved her and begged us to hire her. Ms. Sarah has an Honors Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Education and her Montessori Elementary training. With her love of Drama, she has won several awards for excellence in the Dramatic Arts and led our Elementary students in the 2007 NCFA, for which they (the youngest group to participate) won a Silver Award. Ms Sarah will team up with Ms. Victoria in the Upper Elementary classroom in 2007-2008.

 

Specialty Teachers

Ms. Jennifer Korven – Ms. Jennifer graduated with Honors receiving Bachelor degrees in Music and Music Education and Education. In Canada, Ms. Jennifer has sung in various community chamber and jazz choirs, as well as directed school and community choirs, been an active piano accompanist, teacher and performer. With her expertise, she is developing, strengthening and enhancing our Music Program, leading our students on a delightful musical journey. For the first time our students participated in the Choir portion of the 2007 NCFA, winning several awards including a Gold Award for the Junior Choir’s performance of ‘Bessie the Black Cat.’

 

Ms. Wanda Brenton – Ms. Wanda, currently an Assistant in the Toddler Program, will be focusing more on Physical Education in order to strengthen our Physical Education Program. Ms. Wanda is well known for her physical prowess, especially her Volleyball skills. She is representing Cayman at the Island games in Greece at the end of June 2007.
